National Education Policy-2020: Bringing Reforms In Teacher Education Institutions And Future Prospects

Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector-36 Chandigarh, organized a national webinar on “National Education Policy-2020: Bringing Reforms in Teacher Education Institutions and Future Prospects” on 29-12-2020.. Prof. Raj kumar, honourable vice chancellor, panjab university, Chandigarh was the esteemed chief guest. Dr.BanwariLalNatiya , honourable Chairman-NRC,NCTE,New Delhi , was the guest of honour. Prof. K.m. Bhandarkar, National President,Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF) was the proficient key note speaker.Dr. (Mrs) Agnese Dhillon, Principal of the college was the Chief Patron of the webinar.

Dev Samaj college of Education has been an avid proponentof the mission to train a qualitative renewable bank of dedicated, committed educators who are intellectually evolved, socially empathetic, morally just and spiritually enlightened teacher citizen of India. In the very same spirit of empowerment the free of cost National Webinar was conducted to create awareness with the concrete knowledge base about the New Education Policy-2020. The webinar commenced with the inaugural session in which the welcome address by Dr. (Mrs) Agnese Dhillon, Principal of the college set the tone for the event. The esteemed chief guest Prof. Raj Kumar, vice chancellor, panjab university, Chandigarh further compounded the webinar through his formidable inaugural address in which he adjured the need for skilful and competent teachers. He further emphasised that in order to maximise the benefits of New Education Policy-2020, the attention on infrastructure, distance education and other modes of education must be heeded.

Honourable guest of honour, Dr.BanwariLalNatiya, Chairman-NRC, NCTE, New Delhi through his words of wisdom pinpointed the qualitative aspects of educational courses. He focused on the effective teaching temperament of the qualified educators. He informed about the meaning of the term ‘composite multidisciplinary institutions’ needed in order to understand the guidelines of the New Education Policy-2020. He proposed the suggestion of workshops which will make the process of education smooth and transparent.

Prof. K.M. Bhandarkar carried on the webinar through his remarkable key note address. He shared his insights on the New Education Policy-2020. He put forth the significance of the policy in the present educational scenario. The prevalent educational structure demands composite multidisciplinary institutions to create a balance between both the quality of education as well as the teachers. He emphasised on the historic importance of the New Education Policy-2020 which is an envisaged vision of 34 years of stagnant educational foreground. The webinar ventured into the depth of education related issues. It provided the students and the other members the requisite knowledge which intensified their professional as well as personal association to the educational sector. Dr.Neeru Malik, Associate Professor presented the vote of thanks to the eminent resource personsfor devoting their crucial time for the benefit of the future teachers andacknowledged the participants for making the webinar an informative and a successful event.

To add to the success of the webinar around 250 participants from various fields of knowledge such as stakeholders, students, professors, research scholars marked their presence. The participants were issued certificates for their enthusiastic engagement.
