Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36, Chandigarh is organising a three- day Panjab University Chess Inter College Competitions for Men and Women under the aegis of Directorate Sports, Panjab University. It has been organized under the able guidance of the Shriman Nirmal Singh Dhillon, Chairman and Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Principal Dev Samaj College of Education from 26 th November to 28 th November, 2021. On the first day, Dr. Neeru Malik, Associate Professor escorted the Chief Guest Prof. Anju Suri, DCDC, Panjab University, Chandigarh. She congratulated all the players and participants by appreciating their spirit of sportsmanship. She highlighted that there is a famine of knowledge everywhere, though there is the flood of information and appreciated that this institution has justified by spreading knowledge among its pupils. Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Principal Dev Samaj College of Education in her address elaborated the vision of the institution that Dev Samaj laid its foundation on the respect of esteemed values and ethics. Total ten teams have taken participation in this competition which entails around 70 students. Each team is giving each other a tough competition as all the players seemed to be overwhelmed with the aim of winning the contest. On the second day, the Chief Guest was Professor S.K. Tomar, Dean Student Welfare, Panjab University, Chandigarh who accompanied with Prof. Prashant Gautam, Director, Physical Education and Sports Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Dr Rakesh Malik, Deputy Director, Physical Education and Sports Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Professor Tomar in his address elaborated the basic aim of education which is based mental ability, physical ability, spiritual ability and emotional ability. He also emphasized the practice of providing education to achieve success in the above mentioned abilities. Dr. ( Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Principal Dev Samaj College of Education in her address emphasized the role of human value and life skills required for the life. On this day the men teams participated which were 16 in number and around 80 students participated and gave a tough competition.
